If you consider yourself a book lover, The Book Corner at 1801 Main Street in Niagara Falls (US side), is the real, live place of your dreams. From it’s address on Main Street, the store may appear closed. Just venture around to the rear of the building and you will find parking as well as the back door. Enter here. Prepare yourself for a magical experience akin to the moment Dorothy opens the door into Oz and sees the world in Technicolor for the first time.
The selection that greats you on that ground floor is vast, but this is merely the selection of new books. Two additional floors filled with used books await your exploration. Plan on getting lost for a few hours.
Isn’t this supposed to be a food blog?
I’m on a lovely stay-cation this week and in the spirit of doing some different things, I am writing this week, not so much about food but another love, books. To tie this into food, The Book Corner does have an incredible selection of both new and used cookbooks as well as a collection of local cookbooks published by home bureaus and other organizations. Maybe you can find grandma’s long lost recipe here!
While on the ground floor, say hello to Bookshop cats, Mushu and Scout. Browse the many categories including Animals, Art, Biography, Cartoons, Classics, Comedy, Fiction, Food, Games, History, Language, Military, Music & Film, Mystery, Nature, Poetry, Puzzles, Religion, Science Fiction, Travel, and more! Visit the Children’s section featuring your favorite, classic children’s books, new publications, and learning aides. Be sure to explore the local section with books on Buffalo and the Western New York area that you might not find elsewhere. Ask Jeffrey, the store’s proprietor, if you are having trouble finding a new title. All of the new books are inventoried and if he doesn’t have it, he may be able to order it for you.
Descend the stairs to the basement labyrinth of non-fiction including Adventure, American History, Antiques, Archeology, Art & Photography, Biography, Business, Children’s books, Cookbooks, Crafts, Health, History, Military/War, Humor, Local History, Music & Film, Nature & Gardening, Psychology & Sociology, Political Science, Reference, Religion & Philosophy, Science, Sports, Travel, and True Crime.
Travel upstairs to explore the Literary Loft including Drama, Fiction, Literature, Mystery, Poetry, Romance/Harlequin, and Science Fiction. Enter first through an magical performance space that hosts events by local artists, writers, and performers. Then find a comfy spot to curl up and read on one of the many available couches.

Stunning Writing as I've simply come to expect, but this crosses the Border into being Socially Important. Your Point is Poignant and Sanguine. The Book, that Paper Miracle, must Stay Alive. Websites, Apps, and Social Media have their place. But The Word, on Paper, will always carry something the Internet Will never have: Gravitas. Thank You for This Article. Bravo.
